one week down, a couple hundred to go

well, i did it, i survived my first week of college. well, including new student orientation. there was a lot of ups and downs, but it was all good in the end. all of these new people, places, and things to do made me feel a million things, constantly going back and forth, and a lot of times all at once. i felt excited, scared, happy, sad, thrilled, nervous, confident, lonely, independent, and overwhelmed. through it all, i had the help of my family, my best friends, my new friends, and even people i don't even know who were nice enough to smile and say hi, or sit next to me in class. i've been to most of my classes now. student development starts tomorrow and my online computer classes start in november. the classes seem like they won't be quite as bad as i expected. i don't think anything will be as hard as mr. maul's english class, as long as i study and do the work. but that's the hard part, finding time to study and do the work. i hoped to be an amazing student and be as studious as i was for mr. maul's class, but it's a little harder when i have 8 rigorous classes, not just one or two. they don't lie when they say that for each hour in class, there's 2 on your own, or more like 5. hopefully i'll get a feel for it and cut down that time as i get used to college life, so i can experience the fun parts too, but for now, i'll keep going along and doing my best.

Did you say that you have _EIGHT_ classes? That's insane! How many units is that? At Scripps, you weren't allowed to take more than five classes = 20 units, but I never took that many.

well, i have 8, but they're not much work. i have 3 classes that are 3 credits each, one that's only .5 credits, and one that's 2 credits that i actually have to go to. then i have another 3 credit class and 2 more .5 credit classes that i just do mostly online. the total is actually only 14.5 credits, barely above the bare minimum for my scholarship.
